Does anyone else get this?

I have a sony mobile W395 which is constantly displaying 'emergency calls only' so consequently I can hardly use it. This doesn't happen to anyone else I know and they are on the same Virgin. I went away last weekend with several friends some on the same network but not the same model and they never experienced that once. Is it this model that is too weak to recieve a signal?
