How much did society lose by locking old Gandpa and Granny up in the nursing homes to die?

Society lost a whole lot from locking up it's citizen's in nursing homes. But where society really went wrong was allowing their minds to be infiltrated by perverted ideologies through it's media which were only meant to weaken it's population and then allow these same forces to invisibly control their governments and rob them of their wealth.
