Is "BluRay Burnout" Sony's version of the red ring of death?

I wonder how many people are having the same problem. I heard that the latest PS3 firmware update is actually burning up the bluray device on some consoles. WOW. Thanks Sony! Anyone else have this problem or similar? How do I get it fixed for good?
