Why is GM putting its electric car on hold?

Would you buy a car with a $9,000 battery? This thing is strictly for show. Imagine what a car would cost that had one electric motor on each wheel, a gas motor that ran a generator big enough to drive the four motors, and charge this $9,000 battery, Simple right. Another GM brain F@@t by GM, like HumVees without armor. And the hits just keep on coming. Now if they'd sober up for a few hours and build a 'Series Electric" like say, a 200cc-400cc motor that just drove two rear electrics. Forget the monster battery, and just charge the regular one by shunting off extra current. Maybe a two speed planetary system just to save what little gas it needs.
